If you have seen some of my other deviations, you know my feelings towards our president. I'm not normally one to gripe about politics, to each his own I say, BUT when the legislation implemented by said president cause my paralyzed mother to develop a wound over 8" wide and 3" deep, I take notice. They told her that the preventative device she was using to stop bed sores was no longer covered under Medicaid, unless she had bed sores. If she had bed sores, then they would be more than happy to give her the device to PREVENT bed sores, back. Well she got one alright, and she's been in the hospital for 3 months fighting to live because of it. When asked, the hospital staff, God bless them, told us that the Obamacare was finding ways how not to help those in need and calling it "Financial Responsibility." The mattress she needed was $1700. To date, because of the wound she sustained because they took the mattress away, Medicaid has been billed over $100,000. Financially responsible?
Yeah... well mom is now dying from the infection she got while in the hospital for the wound she developed when the insurance she had took away the bed she needed to prevent the wound she developed all because of the new legislation in place. Fiction? I wish it were. She's been in the hospital since March 9th.
You do realize its the private insurance companies who stand to gain by the throwing your mom out in the col. The current legislation will grant insurance to an additional thirty million Americans, allow kids to stay longer on their parents coverage and close a number of donut holes for seniors.
The difference between my experience and yours is that you read yours in a flyer or on a website or heard it in an advertisement, I lived mine. She is on Medicaid/Medicare and has been for some time now. Everything we have needed to keep her alive has been supplied along with support and kindness from the representatives of those agencies and companies. When our case worker had to tell us that, due to new legislation enacted by Obamacare, she could not help us, she wept openly. Her hands were tied and, unlike previous problems, there was no way she could help us. I had to watch my mother decay in front of my eyes for the past 6 moths, so forgive me if I am a bit biased in my opinion of Obamacare. But honestly, this is not the forum for this debate. You can quote all the political pamphlets and advertisements you want, my mother is still lying in a bed, dying, because of "new legislation." Your opinion, on this site, is soundly rejected. I respectfully ask that any further comments on this matter be taken elsewhere. We simply cannot debate conjecture and political promises against personal experience on this level. Thank you for your post, and good luck to you in the future.
Well, to be fair, this is partly the Republicans fault. Not all of it, but a good chunk of it. The Republican party has been doing everything they can to set him up for failure - the media arm has been blaming him for everything, and the Republicans will filibuster any legislation he agrees on just because he's behind it. Yeah, some of the crap is his fault and no, he's not the best, but Medicaid now acts like a business instead of a public service because and its because he had to do that to get the GOP to let it pass at all. Trust me, the whole thing is a huge mess.
it is worth more than it gives
